Over 200 internally displaced persons from Unity state have arrived in Lakes state following recent fighting between the government forces and rebels in the state, according to local authorities.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the Rumbek Centre Commissioner Mawet Manuer said they received about 200 IDPs who crossed from different parts of Unity state. The official welcomed the conflict-displaced families in the county.
“About 200 Nuer IDPs from Panyijiar County arrived yesterday in Amongpiny payam. So the local authorities talked to them about peace among the communities such that they shouldn’t fear,” he said.
