200 new families arrive at Maban refugee camps

Hundreds of families forcibly displaced from Sudan’s Blue Nile State and elsewhere in Upper Nile State have recently crossed to Maban County of Upper Nile State, a local official said.

John Ivo Mounto, Maban County Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that nearly 200 families have arrived in the country recently.

The official explained that the new arrivals hail from other parts of South Sudan and Sudan’s Blue Nile State.

Mounto, who is also a state government advisor, said the families fled to the area in search of security and food. He called upon humanitarian organizations to provide food and essential services to the conflict-affected people in the area.
