Two people were killed in the Sue River area of Nagiandere Payam in Yambio County, Western Equatoria State, last Sunday, the state information minister said.
Speaking to media in Yambio on Monday, the state information minister, Isaac Mursal, said assailants suspected to be Ambororo pastoralists attacked a house in the Sue River area and killed two people.
“There is an incident which happened in Yambio County’s Ndiangere Payam in the area of Sue River on Sunday at 5 pm. Two people were killed in a house,” Minister Mursal said. “The suspected attackers are believed to have come from the Ambororo nomadic group. The state government is working hard to establish what took place and the security apparatus has been sent to assess the situation on the ground.”
He condemned the killings and urged the public to be calm as the situation is under control.
“On behalf of the state government, I hereby condemn the incident and send condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. I call upon the people to be calm as the situation is under control,” he added. ”
