2 killed, 4 injured in Warrap State accidents

The traffic police in Warrap State have said two people were killed and four others seriously injured in separate accidents on Wednesday.

Col. James Wol Tong, the director of traffic police in Warrap State, told Radio Tamazuj that Wednesday was an unfortunate day because four accidents took place and caused two deaths.

“What happened in Wunrock Payam of Twic County on 17 August was that vehicle was speeding and it knocked a pedestrian dead,” he said. “Two trucks collided in Mathiang in Twic County and one person was injured in the accident and in the same evening, one person fell off a motorbike and died in Kuajok town near the KCB roundabout.”

“A young man transporting a pregnant woman to Wau and when they reached Yith-Liet Payam, they were hit by a big truck and were critically injured and they are admitted in the hospital,” he added.

Col Wol said the fourth accident in which one person was injured occurred in a place called Barpuot.

“So, two people died and four were injured in the accidents,” he said.

According to the police, five drivers have been arrested investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Atem Deng Atem, the director of traffic in Twic County confirmed the accident there.

“There was a big truck loaded with firewood coming from the Wunrock road and another truck tried to overtake it in the process it hit the 30-year-old man called Majak Pinydiing and he immediately,” he said. “The traffic police arrested the driver called Matoc Majak and the deceased was taken to Aweng Payam for burial.”

Col. Deng added that two trucks collided in Mathiang village in Twic County and one person sustained injuries and that a truck belonging to ARC company also overturned along the same road but that nobody was injured.
