2 injured, 9 cattle stolen in Duk raid

At least two herdsmen were injured, and nine cattle were stolen during a raid by armed assailants in Duk County, Jonglei State, on Saturday afternoon, authorities reported.

Duk County Commissioner John Chatim Ruei told Radio Tamazuj that the incident occurred while the herders were taking their cattle to grazing fields.

“At 12 p.m. on Saturday, some of our herders were attacked while leading their animals to grazing grounds. Two herdsmen were injured in the attack, and only nine cattle were stolen because our youth fought back fiercely,” he stated.

The commissioner alleged that armed youth from the neighboring Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) were behind the raid.

However, GPAA Information Minister Jacob Werchum Jouk denied any knowledge of the incident, stating that they were unaware of the attack or any involvement by their youth.
