Two children have died from malnutrition in the last month among more than 200 children affected in Torit of Eastern Equatoria state, said Rachael Awadia, director of Torit hospital.

Rachael said children are being brought to the hospital too late and mothers are not taking care of their children due to lack of awareness.

She expects the number could be higher because the disease has also spread in Nimule, Kapoeta, and Ikotos.

Maria Loponi, one of the mothers in Torit hospital, said the rise in number of malnourished children is due to poor food.
