Two people were killed and five others wounded in three separate attacks by an armed group in Mayom County of Unity State, a government official said.
Koang John Bol, the Director-General in the State Information ministry, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the main aim of those who carried out the attacks was to raid cattle from residents of Mayom.
He said the armed group made away with more than 200 herds of cattle in the attacks on Kuanydit, Kuel, and the defunct Bul south areas.
“Some people are still missing, and many families have been displaced by the attacks,” he added.
The official said the attack in the area of Kuanydit targeted the house of the spiritual leader, adding that one of the attackers was captured following clashes with local youths in the area.
He accused armed youths from neighboring Warrap State of involvement in the attack, citing the planned manner in which it took place.
For his part, Nyuol Kon, the Secretary-General of the defunct Twic State said he had not yet received reports on the attack.
