Authorities in Lakes State confirmed that two suspects identified as Bol Marial Tong and Matot Mabor Anyak have been arrested by security forces in Juba over the killing of two breastfeeding mothers last month in Akot Payam of Rumbek East County.
Police chief inspector of Alualuak Payam Michael Mayor Malaak told Radio Tamazuj last Friday that the two suspects were caught at the Mabil checkpoint in Juba.
"The two suspects are caught and arrested in Juba by security forces. They are not yet brought to Lakes State," Mayor said.
He urged the victims' families to remain patient until justice is served.,
“I urge the families of the breastfeeding mothers killed in Akot Payam to remain patient so that these people are taken to court for trials. It is the court that will punish them when they are found guilty or not guilty of the criminal act of killing breastfeeding mothers, and never take law into your own hands to revenge it," he pleaded.
The minister of cabinet affairs who is the acting minister of information and communication in Lakes State Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit also confirmed the arrests and said the culprits are still in Juba.
