On Thursday a train carrying South Sudanese returnees arrived in Aweil carrying 2,000 people.
Sources said the train left Khartoum almost two weeks ago, 700 new arrivals will stay in Aweil in Northern Bahr Al Ghazal whilst the other 1,300 will move on to Western Bahr Al Ghazal.
There were difficulties experienced along the journey, particularly at the border where the train was inspected and passengers were threatened by gunmen, said a source.
They eventually let them go after negotiations and money was handed over.
