Over 2,000 people were forcibly displaced from Bau locality in Buk town in Sudan’s Blue Nile State after Sudanese Army accused them of spying for the SPLM-North rebel group, some of the displaced said.
The SPLM-N has been fighting the Sudanese government in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states since 2011.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj after their displacement, some displaced people said the Sudan Armed Force (SAF) ordered them to evacuate their houses and leave the town for allegedly harboring rebels who sneaked to Buk town.
Meanwhile, a member of Sudan’s National Parliament Kumundan Joda confirmed that people have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to harassment by Sudan Armed Force from one side accusing them of spying for the SPLM-N, and by elements of SPLM-N from the other side accusing them of spying for the Sudanese army.
He said some civilians told the commissioner of the area that their security and safety at risk that’s why they left the town.
Kumundan accused some elements that he did not mention of targeting the Ingessana tribe because of the defection of Malek Agar.
He also called on humanitarian agencies to provide assistance to the people affected by the conflict in Blue Nile either through the Sudanese government or the SPLM-North.
