Security authorities in Meiram area of South Kordofan arrested on Tuesday 19 Misseriya youths after a roadside protest.

Witnesses from the area say that security elements arrested these youth in the evening on charges of protesting and raising banners calling for the rights of the area, at a time when the deputy governor’s convoy was passing by toward Meiram.

They added the security authorities took them into security custody for investigations and informed relatives to visit them. They also expressed their fears of transferring these youth to Babanusa or Mujlad, and urged competent civil authorities to intervene for their release.
