John Manglang, commissioner of Longechuk County in South Sudan’s Upper Nile says that 19 cases of Kala-azar cases have been recorded in Gulguk administrative area.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, John said the area has no health facilities and there is shortage of drugs.
“There are 19 cases of Kala-azar that have been recorded including pregnant women and children,” said John.
He called on the new proposed Latjor State to provide drugs to the people affected by the disease.
Separately, the commissioner revealed that there are dozens of families in the rebel-held areas needing humanitarian assistance, calling on relief agencies to provide them with assistance.
