18 students graduated from Alison Education Center in South Sudan’s Aweil State on Monday.
Alison center is an Irish-based learning institution.
The students, who studied online, attained diplomas in Human Nutrition, Human Resources Management and Entrepreneurship.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the state education minister, Angelo Atak Akol thanked the graduates and encouraged them to continue with such efforts to ensure that they prosper in the future.
“I am really very happy to attend the graduation of online students in Aweil. They actually managed to graduate 18 students, 13 boys and five girls. Some of them even managed to obtain three certificates according to the work they did,” said Akol.
Mayom Mayom, a Human Nutrition graduate, vowed to help communities that face challenges.
Atong Aguer, another graduate, said she is ready to try many job opportunities.
Meanwhile, Kuol Malong Kuol said he learned a lot during the courses and is optimistic it would improve his standard of living. “The course gave us understanding to look for good jobs,” he said.
The head of Aweil civic engagement center, Mayuol Diing Mayuol, said the center currently provides free internet services to students.
Diing thanked the Norwegian Refugee Council for paying students’ tuition fees.
