17 people released from Kuacjok prison after community leader pays charges

At least 17 men and women were released from Kuacjok Prison after the Aguok Community leader of Warrap State paid their fines of 65,000 pounds on Tuesday.

Last year, Maker Gai, Aguok Community Leader of Greater Gogrial in Warrap State offered similar support to a number of people who could not pay fines in Wau prison.

Col. Juma Doka, Kuacjok Prison Director told Radio Tamazuj they officially released the 17 people who had allegedly committed minor crimes but were unable to paid the court charges.

“Today in Kuacjok we have released 17 people out of prison after a community leader cleared their fines from courts,” he said. About 65,000 South Sudanese pounds were paid to the courts before the 17 people were released on Tuesday.

Director Doka said the 17 people released were not from Greater Gogrial only where Maker comes from but from different areas of Warrap State.

He appreciated the support offered by the Aguok Community leader of Warrap to assist the men and women to free them from prison.
