At least 15 people were killed and six others wounded in a cattle raid that occurred in Tonj North Country of Warrap State last week, a local official said.
The incident occurred at Mabior Atuok cattle camp in Awul Payam on Friday last week.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Saturday, the Executive Director of the county, Aduot Ayieny Aleu accused youth from neighbouring Alabek and Akop payams of attacking the cattle camp.
He said organized forces are on standby for fear of revenge attacks.
"More than 1,000 cows were raided, but all of them were later recovered,” said Aleu.
The local official appealed to authorities to expedite the disarmament of armed civilians to avoid escalation of attacks.
Last month, more than 30 people were reported killed in attacks carried out by Awan and Padoc communities against the Atuok community.
