148 southerners stuck in Khartoum arrive to Juba

A group of 148 South Sudanese who had been stuck in camps and squares in Khartoum have arrived to Juba via Sudan Airways, as thousands remain stranded in Hajj Yousif, Kalakla, Wad El-Bashir and Shigla facing tough conditions.

According to a bishop of Africa Inland Church in Sudan, the group arrived from Khartoum earlier this week aboard Sudan Airways. He stated that the targeted people for deportation by the Africa Inland Church and its partners are 2000 only, pointing out that this trip is the first three trips. In addition to that, he noted that thousands of southerners remain squatting in squares in Hajj Yusif, Kalakla, Mayo, Wad El-Bashir and Shigla in Khartoum living in conditions he described as harsh.

He stated that those South Sudanese were waiting to be deported to the south amid a complete absence of organizations working to help them. He also asserted that the sanitary conditions in camps and fields were poor, appealing to the concerned authorities to play their role in helping the stranded return to South Sudan.
