144 more Chinese peacekeepers arrive in Juba

One hundred and forty-four more Chinese infantry troops arrived in the South Sudan capital Juba Friday morning as part of United Nations’ peacekeeping mission in the country.

One hundred and forty-four more Chinese infantry troops arrived in the South Sudan capital Juba Friday morning as part of United Nations’ peacekeeping mission in the country.

That brings the total number of Chinese peacekeepers in South Sudan to 180.

UNMISS spokesperson Ariane Quentier said: “They arrive as part of ongoing peace keeping battalion who will be working here in Juba.”

A total of seven hundred Chinese peacekeepers will be deployed in South Sudan to be based in Juba. The rest will arrive  in March.
