 At least 14 people have been killed and 10 others injured in a string of separate road ambushes and inter-communal clashes across the Equatoria region as violence continues to plague the country.

The first killing occurred on Sunday evening in Mangala County of Jubek State when eight people were killed and three others injured in an attack by gunmen on a commercial car.

 Illario Paul, Managal County Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that unknown gunmen attacked passengers travelling from Magri to Juba, killing at least eight people and wounding three others.

In a separate incident, two people were killed and another was seriously injured in an ambush on a commercial vehicle along the Juba-Nimule road last Friday, a police official said.

Col. Daniel Justin Boula, Spokesman of South Sudan Police Service, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the incident occurred in Kerepi area long the Juba-Nimule road when an armed group shot at a passenger bus on Friday.

He pointed out that at least two civilians were killed and another was seriously injured, saying the wounded was taken to Juba Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The spokesman noted that they deployed a police force to secure the highway to void road attacks by the armed groups in the area.

Attack on Nauru

At least four people were killed and six others injured in an attack on Nauru County by a group of cattle raiders on Saturday, a local official told Radio Tamazuj.

Josephine Nakuro, Information Minister in Namurunyang State said that about four people were killed and six others burned in an attack by armed cattle raiders on Nauru County.

The minister accused cattle raiders from Kapoeta East of attacking the area and burning several villages. She pointed out that they would visit the area today in order to assess the situation.
