At least 14 people have been arrested in connection with a cattle raid that led to the death of one person, Wulu county officials have said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Wulu County Commissioner Abednego Dugur said the 14 are believed to be members of a group of armed cattle raiders who ambushed a village in Murkwich Boma of Wulu County.
He said the group which stole 21 cows, started shooting randomly at a village killing one woman and injuring a 17-year old girl.
Dugur accused local youths in the state of being involved in criminal activities saying they disguise themselves as coming from neighboring states.
He said the neighboring counties have launched a strategy to identify and inform authorities of suspicious movement of criminals in an effort to reduce crimes in the region.
