Four men have allegedly gang-raped a 13-year-old girl at Al Salam camp for South Sudanese refugees in Sudan’s White Nile State on Monday, several refugees said.
The refugees told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the incident took place when the South Sudanese girl went to the river to fetch water, saying she returned home suffering from injuries after being raped by four men.
But a medical test inside the camp couldn’t prove that the girl was raped, while another doctor in Kosti town found that the 13-year-old girl was gang-raped.
For their part, relatives of the victim accused security officials and doctors at the camp of trying to rig testing results.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Adam, a supervisor at the refugee camp, urged female refugees not to go out of the camps to avoid sexual assaults by herdsmen around the camp.
