12 people killed in inter-communal clashes in Kapoeta state

At least 12 people were killed after clashes between the Didinga and the Toposa tribes in Nauru County in South Sudan’s Kapoeta state last week, a government official said.

At least 12 people were killed after clashes between the Didinga and the Toposa tribes in Nauru County in South Sudan’s Kapoeta state last week, a government official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Josehine Nakuru, Minister of Information in Kapoeta state, said three people were injured in the clashes while 16 others are missing. She further said the injured are receiving treatment at the Kapoeta Civil Hospital.

“We have sent an investigative committee and they have been there now for three days. When they get back, we will have more information from Nauru County,” added Nakuru.

The official pointed out that the committee headed by the state governor is on the ground to establish the causes of the conflict.
