Officials in Pochalla County have arrested 12 people allegedly involved in the recent unrest that erupted in the county, according to local sources.

The move comes after the meeting last week between David Yau Yau, Chief Administrator for Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) and King of Anyuak Akway Agada Akway and politicians from the county who represent Pochalla in both the national and state assemblies.

“The arrested people are behind bars in Pochalla right now,” one source said.

Residents of the county have also reported resumption of normal movements of people in the area after a supposed reduction in tensions.

The unrest in the county started last June when two people were shot dead during food distribution. The incident was believed by many to have been incited by politicians struggling over power in the county. “The politicians are behind the conflicts in Pochalla County,” one resident of Pochalla said.
