At least 11 people have died in Wewun Payam in South Sudan’s Boma State from an unknown disease that causes diarrhea and vomiting since the beginning of this month, a local official.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last week, John Dunyi, an MP representing Wewun Payam in the state parliament, said local residents especially children were suffering from diarrhea and vomiting in his constituency.

“I have informed MSF about the situation and they have already taken notice of it,” said Dunyi.

The lawmaker further called on other health organizations to come and rescue the situation in the area, while complaining about absence of humanitarian organizations in his payam. He pointed out that they have only one NGO operating in Mewun area.

Mewun Payam, which is located about 37 kilometers way from Jebel Boma area, has no roads leading to its neighboring areas.
