At least 11 people were killed in an inter-communal fighting between the Agariba clan of the Ma'alia and the Jakhaisat clan of the Hamar tribes along the common border between Sudan’s West Kordofan and East Darfur states.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Ahmed Murra, a citizen of Sharif area said a group of Ma'alia tribesmen attacked people and looted dozens of heads of cattle from Hamar on Tuesday, leading to a fight between the two sides.
Murra further said leaders of the two communities have promised to hand over the criminals to the relevant authorities and return the stolen cattle.
According to Murra, tension is high after the incident but East Darfur government has deployed police forces along the border to diffuse the tension and maintain security.
