11 inmates released from prison in Mayendit County, Southern Liech
At least 11 inmates charged with minor crimes were released from prison in Mayendit County in South Sudan’s Southern Liech State last week.
The decision was taken by the state governor Stephen Taker Riek.
Nyuon Joseph, minister of information in Southern Liech state, told Radio Tamazuj Monday that 11 inmates had been released from police custody in Mayendit County. “The 11 inmates are currently free after being released from jail,” he said.
He explained that the state governor directed all security personnel to provide full protection to the local population in the county. The state minister further said the security situation is stable in Mayendit County.
