11 dead, 16 wounded in South Sudan football watch attack

At least 11 people have been confirmed dead and 16 others wounded when a gunman in South Sudan opened fire at a group of people watching English premier league game on Saturday evening.

The incident took place at Gure, a suburb south west of Juba town. No suspect has been apprehended since the incident took place and no group or person has come out to claim any responsibility for the attack.

 Police spokesman, Justin Daniel regretted the incident and said security forces have launched joint operation in pursuit of the suspects.

He called on the residents of Gure and the entire Juba town to cooperate with the security forces in provision of any security related information, particularly people suspected to be involved in suspicious activities in residential areas.

The motive of the attack remains elusive. The police in collaboration with military intelligence and national security said investigations are ongoing.
