The Bor Wrestling Team of Jonglei State has emerged victorious with a commanding score of 8 to 2 against the Aliab Community in neighboring Lakes State in a captivating wrestling showdown held in Mingkaman town on Saturday.
The spotlight was on two key matchups during the event. Representing Bor County, Makuei Matiop, faced off against the formidable Machar Matit from Aliab. The tension in the arena was palpable as the skilled wrestlers grappled for supremacy. Ultimately, it was Makuei who secured the win, demonstrating both strength and technique.
Ngang Mabior, the Deputy Chairman of the Bor County Wrestling and Cultural Association, expressed gratitude to his team for their victory. He also extended warm appreciation to the Aliab Community for their hospitality.
“We are celebrating this victory together with our brothers from Aliab,” he said. “Wrestling is more than a game; it promotes unity and peace. Although we defeated them, we remain happy together.”
Despite the defeat, the Aliab Community graciously accepted the outcome with Ayuom Garang, the head coach of the Awerial County Wrestling Association, emphasizing that wrestling transcends mere competition.
“We have been defeated, which is normal in any game,” he acknowledged. “Congratulations to the Bor community. Wrestling is a game of peace, and we will train harder for our next encounter.”
