At least ten people were killed and three others wounded in a road ambush between Torit and Lofon in Eastern Equatoria on Saturday, according to SPLA.

Brigadier Gen. Lul Ruai, SPLA spokesman in Juba confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that he has just received casualty reports after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a convoy vehicles to Lofon County during the weekend.

The convoy which was attacked by the unknown group on Saturday left Torit to Lofon carrying the county salaries to the area.

Another source within the state claimed the Lofon commissioner was among those wounded but the SPLA spokesman said he did not know whether the commissioner was involved or not.

General Lul did not mention whether those who were in the convoy were soldiers or civilians and also whether the attackers took the money or not.

In a separate incident, Gen. Lul Ruai added that two people were wounded on Monday morning after three commercial buses were attacked along Juba-Nimule highway.

Among these commercial buses were Gateway and Friendship which were shot at Aru Junction. Another bus known as Echo was traveling from Kampala to Juba when it fell into a road ambush at the same place.

The passengers were driven to the bush where they were looted and the bus was then set on fire at the same time but the passengers were not harmed.
