The police in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State on Tuesday night apprehended ten suspects over the death of a civilian who was in police custody in Warawar, Aweil East County.
According to police reports, the Late, 30-year-old Aguer Ben Achiech, who was a bus conductor, arrived in Warawar from Sudan late on Monday night but was arrested as he tried to jump over a lodging he had booked. He was put in jail but was found dead the next morning.
The state police spokesman, Captain Guot Gout Akol said 10 people have been arrested after the postmortem report indicated that he had been murdered.
"The police have arrested 10 suspects out of 11 and the police are searching for the other suspect for more investigations. According to the postmortem report, there were signs of injuries in the neck and the back," he said. "The suspects include organized forces including military and some citizens. Police are still hunting the other missing suspect.”
Aweil East County health director Doctor Ring Yak said, "I asked my colleague yesterday and he said the deceased was having a mark of rope in the neck and has some injuries in the neck and the chest, he seemed to have been beaten up. The medical checkups found all these signs but there was no bleeding nor gunshot."
