A woman was reported killed and a man was hurt in an attack by unknown gunmen in Twic East County of Jonglei State on Sunday.
Twic East County Commissioner Dau Akoi Jurkuch told Radio Tamazuj that the attackers had penetrated into Pakeer payam and attacked a cattle camp in the area. The official confirmed that the shooting resulted in the killing of a woman on the spot and wounding of her husband.
He added the attackers took nine cows and managed to run away. Dau claimed that the cattle raiders headed toward Gumruk area in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA). The commissioner called on the local authorities in the Pibor Area to bring back the stolen cattle if found in the area.
Last week, three internally displaced people including a woman were reported killed in an attack by an unknown gunman in Panyagoor area.
