A group of armed men on Sunday attacked Abuashim Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan State, killing one person and raiding over 400 heads of cattle, according to area locals.
A resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, told Radio Tamazuj that the attackers exchanged heavy gunfire with the residents, killing one person identified as Ayman Jebrail.
The source further said that attackers who were about 40 in number made away with 425 heads of cattle. He added that they were not able to recover the stolen cattle but suspect that the attackers came from Kadugli.
In May this year, three cattle herders were killed by a group of armed men allegedly from armed militias operating in the region.
