One person was killed and five others injured in a road accident involving a commuter vehicle along the Juba-Bor road in Bor County of Jonglei State on Wednesday, local officials.

One person was killed and five others injured in a road accident involving a commuter vehicle along the Juba-Bor road in Bor County of Jonglei State on Wednesday, local officials. 

The deputy head of the Jonglei Drivers’ Union Thon Philip Nhial, told Radio Tamazuj Friday, “The accident involved a Noah vehicle carrying about 8 passengers from Juba to Bor in Bangachrot area. One person was killed on the spot and five others injured.”

He pointed out that the injured are being treated at the Bor State Hospital. 

John Anieth Malak, a nurse at the Bor State Hospital, said the five injured individuals they received Wednesday are responding well to treatment. 

“Their injuries are minor, not life-threatening. As of Thursday morning, there were only 3 people undergoing treatment. The rest have been discharged,” Anieth said.

For his part, Joseph Mayen Akoon, the state police commissioner, said the incident was unfortunate and called on the drivers to avoid speeding and abide by the road safety rules as they travel along the Juba-Bor road which is currently under construction.
