At least one person was killed and three others injured after a fight broke out at a party in the town of Aweil in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State on Tuesday, police said.
The party was organized despite the ban on all forms of social gatherings to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Aweil Police Chief Machiek Achol Kueth told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that about seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
“The suspects were arrested and investigations are ongoing on the murder. My message to citizens is that they should create awareness among young people to avoid such crimes,” he said.
Kueth urged communities to inform police authorities before such crimes occur.
Reec Mathok Diing, the director of Aweil civil hospital director confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Adim Malek, 20.
“On June 2, at about 6:00 pm, police brought three wounded youth and a dead person to Aweil civil hospital. The incident happened among drunken youths,” he said.
Diing, however, said those admitted to hospital were discharged.
