One person was killed in an armed attack by criminals on two commercial vehicles along the road from Juba to Western Bahr al Ghazal State, a government official in Western Equatoria said.
Mundri West Commissioner John Henry told to Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the incident took place at Fara Sika area. He further said a driver of one of the vehicles was killed on the spot.
“What happened is an isolated case, it is caused by criminals, and it has not affected the local citizens,” said Henry. “They wanted to take the vehicles that were heading to Bahr al Ghazal, they attacked the vehicles and killed one person,” he explained.
The local official pointed out that police forces were deployed by the state authorities in Amadi State in order to arrest the criminals.
Separately, John Henry reported that his county was suffering from poor condition of roads to Juba during this rainy season, which caused a lack of consumer goods at the market.
He pointed to an acute shortage of seeds and farming equipment during this year’s agricultural season in the area. The commissioner appealed to the national government in Juba and humanitarian organizations to provide equipment and seeds to citizens.
