1 dead, another wounded in Abyei attack

At least one person was killed in a commercial vehicle between Dokura and Amiet on Saturday. A survivor said four men holding rifle guns opened fire on the car with nearly twenty passengers on board and as a result the driver died immediately. The incident came three days after the Ngok Dinka-Misseriya youth conference for peace building. Rose Ajak Amor, according to the Abyei newsletter, said no one else was hurt, “our vehicle was running on the road and suddenly we heard shooting and passengers fell down and ran to the bush. I was shocked and didn’t manage to escape. The attackers appeared in front of me and one of them ordered to shoot me but his colleague told him not to do so saying this is a woman, leave her. They looted everything and took my wallet. They asked me to run then I stepped down I took my shoes and bent my back on the vehicle looking for them.” A member of peace committee from Misseriya, chief belal El sheikh Abdul rehamaan said they have arrested two people suspected to be behind the attack on 19th October. In that incident a young man was killed and a woman was injured. He said the suspects came to the market masked and tried to steal a vehicle before being arrested by peace committee members. Suspects were handed over to UNISFA base in Todach waiting for investigation and trial by the traditional joint court this week
