Local official reports lack of basic services in Koma County

The Commissioner of Koma County in Upper Nile State, Hassan Bali Akech, said he is deeply concerned about the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation for people in his county due to shortages of food and other basic services.

Bali told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the humanitarian situation is worsening especially for women and children.

The county official pointed out that due to lack of health facilities in the country, local residents have resorted to herbal medication while serious medical conditions are transferred to Doro Hospital in neighbouring Maban County.

He called on aid agencies to visit the area and provide the much needed services.
