US condemns Sudan targeting civilians in South Kordofan and Blue Nile

The United States has condemned the Sudanese government launching air attacks on civilians in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.

Aid groups have accused Khartoum of carrying out a series of air raids in the two states over the past few months.

In a statement the US said the attacks are worsening the humanitarian crisis in both regions.

On Thursday the White House described the attacks on civilian targets as unjustifiable and unacceptable.

It said the actions represent violations of international conventions and aggravate the crisis already taking place in Blue Nile and South Kordofan.
