Several citizens in Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal State told Radio Tamazuj Friday that Wau Hospital received three unidentified bodies.
The state’s local government minister Angelo Taban confirmed the health facility had received dead bodies brought by police authorities.
“This needs identification procedures because there is a violation of ceasefire whether they are affiliated to the opposition or not,” he said. “If they are not affiliated to the opposition, maybe they are criminals who rob and kill people.”
Security guard arrested
Meanwhile, heavily armed security forces arrested the head of the university guards Philip Lagu, according to multiple sources on Friday.
The sources told Radio Tamazuj that the security forces stormed Lagu’s house while shooting indiscriminately in the air.
The security forces afterward went to a neighbour’s house where they arrested a woman and her son before being released later when Lagu reported himself to the National Security office.
The same sources confirmed that Lagu is still in detention. But the local government minister downplayed the matter, claiming that Lagu was taken for questioning only.
Separately, South Sudan’s SPLA-In Opposition rebels on Saturday accused the government of attacking their positions in Western Bahr el Ghazal state, though the claim could not be independently verified.
