Students in Babanusa protest against lack of services

Authorities in Babanusa, South Kordofan released 15 students from Peace University that were arrested after protests in front of the National Endowment Fund for the students of Babanusa.

The students said they are facing harsh living conditions namely a lack of water and electricity services.

They formed a committee of 10 students to approach the Fund to solve the current problem, but said the Fund did not listen to their complaints.

As a result, students started a fire in the building the Fund is housed in. This led to security forces firing at the students to try to disperse them.

The students were released from custody following mediation from local residents.
