South Sudan returnees blame SSRRC for luggage delay in Sudan

Several citizens in Wau who have returned from Sudan following the independence have expressed discontent about the delay of their luggage.

The South Sudanese returnees blame the South Sudan’s Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) for the lateness of their properties.

Sultan Benjamin Makuei told Radio Tamazuj from West Bahr el Ghazal’s city of Wau that a large number of returnees who arrived before and after the independence are still waiting for transportation of their luggage from different states in Sudan.

The Sultan noted that the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission had ordered some agents to collect the returnee’s luggage across Sudan and then transport them to South Sudan, but seemingly the agents did not do their job.

Makuei also noted that they met with representatives of the SSRRC in West Bahr el Ghazal’s but they were not able to explain the problem of the luggage.

He said that they will meet with some of the agents who were dispatched to Sudan in order to find out what causes the problem.

Sudan still accommodates thousands of South Sudanese nationals in different states. In October, South Sudanese president Salva Kiir had instructed the authorities concerned to transport all South Sudanese citizens stranded across Sudan to their fatherland.
