Seven directors resign from North Kordofan government

Seven directors and head of departments in the State Ministry of Finance in Sudan’s North Kordofan State have recently resigned in protest against an administrative order reducing their discretionary powers.

The state government had reportedly taken them a decision stripping them of some powers and handing them to designated subordinates to carry out the task.

The top civil servants presented their mass resignations to the state general secretariat and to the office of the governor.

For his part, the governor refused to reverse the decision and asked the resigned employees to remain in their positions without any office responsibilities, or else the door is wide open for those who wanted to leave work and depart from the state.

CORRECTION: This article initially stated that the resignations took place in South Kordofan.
