There are reports from Renk in Upper Nile state, South Sudan, that Sudanese government authorities have closed the main route from White Nile state in Sudan to Upper Nile state .

The governor of Renk, Deng Koj said that the road was hastily closed by the Sudanese government for security reasons. He said they have not addressed the legal issues affecting the border since the independence of the South.

He also said the closure mainly affects those traders traveling from Sudan, as citizens have some access to goods coming from the southern provinces.
