Egypt proposes mediation on outstanding issues between Sudan and South Sudan

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman said to the Khartoum based newspaper Al Sahafa, that Egypt has submitted a proposal to mediate between the governments of Khartoum and Juba, to address the outstanding issues following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

The outstanding issues address agreements between the two governments on oil, water rights, citizenship status, border demarcations, Abyei and security.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamil Amru, will visit Khartoum and Juba early next week for talks with officials in both countries about the Egyptian initiative.

The spokesman also said the Egyptian minister will meet with President Salva Kiir next Saturday and then travel to Khartoum to meet with President Omar Al Bashir, to try to propose a resolution.
