A motorcyclist caught a young hyena in Tonj South County of Warrap State. The biker picked up the hyena pup and took it home before wildlife authorities intervened.

Peter Budoyu said that on Wednesday morning he saw the young hyena alone on the road in Dadar Boma.

He said he stopped the motorbike and caught the wild animal, according to a reporty by the country's Catholic radio news agency. Budoyu kept the animal in his house in order to inform the wildlife service.

Wildlife officer James Rel Yak said the service got the information about the hyena late in the evening after some children went to see the animal in the biker's house. He appealed to the people of Tonj to leave the young animals where they find them.
