Yei residents urge warring parties to return home with peace

Local residents of Yei River State have called on the warring parties which are negotiating in Addis Ababa to return home with a signed peace agreement.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, several residents said they need peace because they are tired of the ongoing devastating war.

Grace, 28, said she hopes that this round of peace talks will end the ongoing war and restore lasting peace and stability in the country.

“I am hoping that God will touch their hearts to agree on peace because we are tired. People are dying in the bushes because there are no roads for them to access health care services. We are tired and we want peace, nothing else,” he said.

Another resident called John said they need peace to pave the way for stability and development in South Sudan.

Meanwhile another man who identified himself as Moses Taban urged the warring parties to agree on the common good of the people of South Sudan.

“We are happy because the revitalization process has kicked off. We need to hear that a peace deal is signed at the end of the discussions in Adis Ababa. We don’t want killings and war again. We need peace and stability to return to Yei and South Sudan at large,” he said.

The warring parties are expected to submit their final report on the intra-South Sudanese dialogue to the regional mediation today.
