Authorities of Tonj state ministry of agriculture have organized training for farmers on combating armyworm and other pests ahead of the cultivation season.

Tonj Minister of Agriculture, Angelo Deng Magol, called on farmers to be vigilant and report any unusual insects among crops during this year’s farming season.

“We are preparing, and we have extension agents on how to control the spread of armyworm,” Magol said.

The minister called on agricultural partners to continue supporting the local farmers in their endeavor to produce enough food for themselves and the nation.

He advised all farmers in the area to use new agricultural technologies and innovations during this year’s planning season.

The state minister was speaking during the training organized for farmers last Tuesday.
