Thousands of South Sudanese refugees at Bilel camp in Sudan’s South Darfur state are reportedly facing harsh humanitarian conditions due to lack of drinking water, food and medical assistance.

Sheikh Hamdan, an elder at Bilel camp, told Radio Tamazuj that the refugees had fled violence from Raja and Wau areas in South Sudan. He further said the refugees are suffering from diseases such as malaria and other infections, amid lack of health facilities.

Hamdan pointed out that the situation of the South Sudanese is likely to deteriorate further as the rainy season starts because they don’t have shelter.

The camp leader called on aid organizations to rescue the refugees by providing food and health assistance.
