More than 60 young men and women are undergoing trainings on leadership and livelihood skills in South Sudan’s Jubek State.

In a press statement on Thursday, the director of training at Jubek’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mario Gunda said the ministry plans to empower young people by training them in various skills that will help them to become self-reliant.

Gunda further said the ministry’s policy targets young people between 15-35 years of age. The official admitted that there are many challenges facing the ministry including lack of training opportunities, lack of employment and other issues.

The executive director of the People’s Welfare Organization, which organised the training, Gore Martin, said the organisation targets all young people to help them realize their dreams.

He acknowledged that they faced a language barrier with some of the participants who do not understand English.
