Khartoum authorities relocates South Sudanese refugees

Local authorities in Khartoum city have started to relocate South Sudanese refugees from the country’s capital to states near the South Sudanese border.

A government source told Radio Tamazuj that the campaign targets illegal residents and shelters in and around Khartoum.

Hamad Al-Jizouli, the Sudanese Commissioner for Refugees earlier said Sudan is hosting nearly a million South Sudanese refugees.

Rights and civil activists in Sudan described the campaign as discriminatory towards South Sudanese.

South Sudanese government had criticized the move by the Khartoum government and called for treatment of its people with dignity.
