Abyei chief administrator hails peace between Ngok Dinka and Misseriya tribes
The Head of Abyei Administrative Area in South Sudan, Kuol Alor, has hailed efforts being exerted by leaders of Ngok Dinka and Misseriya tribes for peaceful coexistence in the area, saying the rate of crimes has significantly reduced in the last few months.
Alor, who spoke to Radio Tamazuj after announcing his cabinet, said they will work closely with local leaders supporting peace initiatives between the two communities to realize more peace and stability.
“Up to now, there is a relative peace and stability in Abyei that is because the committee for peace between the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka is putting a lot of efforts so that what they had agreed upon is upheld,”Alor said.
When asked about the status of Abyei, Alor said the matter is now with the two presidents of Sudan and South Sudan to decide.
